“Special Bulletin” outstanding 1983 TV-Movie – Reality-TV Docu-drama

An outstanding TV-Movie which originally aired on March 20th 1983 as an edition of NBC Sunday Night at the Movies. Directed by Edward Zwick (The outstanding Civil War feature film “Glory.”).

In this movie -- A TV reporter and cameraman are taken hostage on a tugboat while covering a workers strike. A terrorist group brings a homemade atomic bomb aboard a tugboat in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina in order to blackmail the U.S. Government into disabling its nuclear weapons, and the incident is caught live on television. The movie simulates a series of live news broadcasts on the fictional RBS Network -- in the tradition of the 1938 Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast. A fascinating gem of a TV-Movie and a worthy successor to “WOTW.”

Winner of Four Emmy Awards including outstanding writing, camera work, editing and outstanding drama special.
